This design gave the rifle more reliable and faster loading capabilities than its predecessors.

This 1873 Springfield is in fair condition, as depicted in the accompanying images. The rifle exhibits wear marks and dings that are consistent with its age, adding to its historical character. The wood stock shows some noticeable dings in the forend. Despite these cosmetic imperfections, the rifle maintains its overall integrity and remains a fine example of its era.
